Hey Tobey don't feel bad I did the same thing, I'm sure we all have. But heating the pipes up may not be the best idea, I tried that it made it worse, the hotter it got the harder it got. I used a high grade chrome polish and a super fine piece of steel wool to scub it off, worked great but took some time and alot of effort.
